Why Does My Video Have No Sound?

So there you are with a movie or television video all set to watch it on your computer and -- oops. No sound. You curse. You swear! That is the last time you are going to waste time downloading some crappy old video only to have it play mute.

More often than not the problem is with the codec.

Huh?

Yeah, you're right. Codec? So what does that mean to you? Nada. Never mind that. You just want a simple answer. So here it is.

The best thing you can do is try VLC Player. It's free. It's great and unless the video really is a dud, chances are that VLC will play it just fine for you. Download it here: http://www.videolan.org/

Free.
